Introduction to Limited-Torque Hydraulic Couplings
  •   1. Advantages of the Limited-Moment Hydraulic Coupling
    ◆ To enhance the starting capability of squirrel-cage induction motors, the motor's peak torque can be utilized as the starting torque, thereby avoiding the inefficient mismatch phenomenon of "using a large horse to pull a small cart."
    Reduce the starting time of the electric motor and minimize the inrush current during startup.
    Prevent power overload and protect the motor and working machinery from damage caused by excessive load.
    Reduce vibration and impact during the startup process.
    In multi-machine drive systems, it ensures that motors start independently, enables power balancing, and provides a starting torque limit ranging from 1.2 to 1.6 times the rated torque.
    Simple in structure, reliable, free from mechanical wear, and requires no special maintenance.
    Capable of working in a variety of harsh operational environments.

    2. Application Scope of Hydraulic Couplings
            Widely used in various mechanical equipment across industries such as power generation, steel production, metallurgy, mining, coal processing, building materials, chemical engineering, ports, lifting systems, transportation, and construction machinery. Examples include belt conveyors, scraper conveyors, chain conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, bucket wheel stackers/reclaimers, coal mills, ball mills, crushers, bridge cranes, gantry cranes, tower cranes, leather tanning drum machines, washing machines, wire-drawing machines, rubber mixing machines, boiler slag breakers, centrifuges, amusement park rides, and more.

     

    3. Characteristics of Limited-Moment Hydraulic Couplings

    (1) Types, varieties, and specifications of limited-torque hydraulic couplings:
    By transmission medium: available with mineral oil or water filling, both featuring the same axial installation length and fully interchangeable components.
    By drive type: the YOX series features an external impeller (pump wheel) drive, while the YOXn series utilizes an internal impeller (turbine) drive.
    By cavity type: there is the single-cavity YOX series and the double-cavity YOXD series.
    According to the structural classification based on start-up time: YOP series with no rear auxiliary cavity; YOX series of standard type; YOXV series with extended rear auxiliary cavity; and YOXvvs series featuring both an extended rear auxiliary cavity and an enlarged side auxiliary cavity.
    By equipment transmission characteristics: there are the YOXP series with belt pulleys; and the YOXIIZ and YOXNZ series with brake wheels.

    By Easy-Disassembly Type: YOXA Series with Elastic Sleeve Pin Coupling.

    The combined starting characteristic curve diagram of the electric motor and hydraulic coupling is shown in Figure 1.
    The original characteristic curve diagram of the hydraulic coupling's starting process is shown in Figure 2.
    The start-up time and process curves for the motor and hydraulic coupling are shown in Figure 3.

    (3) Designation and Meaning of Hydraulic Coupling Codes
            The code and identification of the hydraulic coupling shall be represented by Chinese Pinyin letters according to GB/T 5837-2008 .
             1. Hydraulic couplings driven by external wheels and using mineral oil as the working medium do not require any codes or letters for identification.
